We are the founders of „Weltenlos e. V.“. The Weltenlos association was founded due to various personal motives, foreground for all founding members was the interest in different cultures. We want to share our own interest and curiosity in other cultures. We understand cultural diversity as an enrichment and not as a restriction. The projects which are initiated or supported by the association should convey this message. Furthermore we want to animate and curious others with different means!

I've always enjoyed travelling. Due to my profession as a Master of Science in the maritime field I have to travel a lot. I saw many countries also form the non-touristic perspective. Especially in a professional dealings, the lack of understanding for other cultures could lead to insurmountable obstacles and limitations. Also in the context of the increasing globalization, inter cultural understanding is becoming increasingly important. Dealing with other cultures and realities of life is an important social task for me. It's also fundamental in my literary work to try to understand and to describe other ways of life of individuals in a globalized world. Openness to other cultures, especially in everyday experience, need to be encouraged and required a repeatedly reflexion of your own position. Karin Wagner (Head of International Youth Exchanges)

Learning foreign languages and travelling have always attracted me due to my deep interest in understanding how societes work. When I finally had the chance to stay abroad for a longer time, I was amazed by the powerful impressions that I could gather. This stay together with a long term bi-national relationship provided the most enriching experiences which taught me how important it is to change perspectives and to challenge one's own convictions. With working on the project of the youth exchange I hope to pass on this feeling and to foster curiousity and openness. Nicolaj Selter-Belajew (Project Manager)

Due to my profession in the international marketing business, I'm interested in other countries, peoples and their cultures. In addition to that, I've a lot experience in youth-work, since (1982) I have managed financial affairs for youth-camps for a long time. Furthermore, I've worked as a tutor in education issues and also as a team leader. It's still important for me, to pass my interest and curiosity in foreign cultures and get in dialog with interested young people.

During my schooldays I seized each chance to go abroad. I participated in exchanges to Italy, Estonia and Chile and I always enjoyed my time with people from all over the world. As a result of my addiction to foreign countries and languages I studied International Tourism Management. Now as a volunteer at the youth exchange I want to give other young persons the possibility to experience how fun it is to gain insight into other cultures, to learn foreign languages and most of all to make international friends. Through my Islamic studies and many long stays in the states of the Middle East, I become more aware of the importance of a timely and constructive dialogue of cultures, with all its religious and traditional forms for a life in our multi-ethnic societies. In my professional life I am engaged intensively for the development of opportunities for youth groups multi-ethnic character in different district of the city of Hamburg. It become clear to me, to create opportunities for a deep cultural exchange at all levels to archive an exchange under all circumstances.
