Welcome to youth-exchange.org!
Written by Karin

Thank you very much for your interest in our international youth camp! The idea of this project is to enjoy the exciting experience of an intercultural exchange by spending two weeks together with young people from all over Europe. Thereby, the camp will not only mean fun and recreation. Indeed, it offers much more than just a casual touristic trip abroad. If you want to join us and need some more information on what this project really is about, please go ahead.

International Participants

The camp will be joined by young people aged 15-17 years from Estonia, Bulgaria, Italy and Germany. From each country 10 exchangees will participate, that means there will be 40 participants in total. But don't worry, we will offer many different activities. Therefore, you will have the chance of getting to know each other very well. Besides, you will stay together in a youth hostel during all the time and share your days from „Good morning“ to „Good night“. This will be the perfect opportunity to make friends abroad!

An attractive programme which invites you to bring in your own ideas
By going on field trips, participating in sport events, workshops etc. you will have the opportunity to learn more about the different backgrounds, opinions, life-styles and ideas of the other exchangees. In short, you will learn a lot about diversity in Europe, about other cultures and about yourself.

Activities planned so far comprise:

  • Field trips to Hamburg city , including town ralleys and the visit of a museum run by blind people in absolute darkness (Dialogue in the Dark)

  • Workshops: Theater, Music, Dance, Photography, Broadcast of a self-made radio programme

  • Workshops on Europe and Diversity

  • Sport events

  • a trip to the Baltic sea

and much more! You can choose between the offered workshops according to your own preferences, so everybody will have the chance to do what he or she likes best! You are always welcome to bring in your own ideas and opinions which will be considered by the organizational team to make sure that the camp will be an enriching experience you will never forget!

    Languages and translation
The common language in the camp will be English. Therefore, you will have a great opportunity to try out and to strenghten your language skills. If you feel that this is very challenging or fear that you won't be able to communicate well, don't worry. It doesn't matter whether your English is good or bad as you will always be supported by bilingual team leaders who will translate in case you need help.

As the project is funded by the European programme Youth in Action and the German „Aktion Mensch“ foundation the participants fee is very low. It includes all costs for housing, meals, transportation, workshops, trips etc. You will only need to cover part of the traveklling costs with your fee, which can also be funded if needed. Please talk to your local project coordinator.

We are looking forward to seeing you in Hamburg this summer!
